Join a Meeting
You can join an online meeting through an email invite, an instant messaging invite, from the browser, from the Zoom desktop and mobile application, from a landline or mobile phone, or with an H.323 or SIP device.
Before joining a Zoom meeting on a computer or mobile device, you can download Zoom from the Download Center. Otherwise, you will be prompted to download and install Zoom when you click a join link.
Joining a Meeting by Phone
You can join a Zoom meeting or webinar, which allows you to dial in to a virtual meeting without a computer. This is useful when:
- you do not have a microphone or speaker on your computer
- you do not have a iOS or Android smartphone
- you cannot connect to a network for video and VoIP (computer audio)
You can also join by phone using the call me feature.
Attendee Controls in a Meeting
When you join a Zoom meeting hosted by another user, you are considered a participant, unless the original host adds you as a co-host or transfers host controls to you. The user who scheduled the meeting or was selected to be the alternative host (if the host is unable to join) will have host controls. Learn more about roles in a meeting.
Raising Hand in a Webinar
The raise hand feature in webinar allows attendees, panelists, co-hosts, and the host to raise their hand to indicate that they need something from the host, co-host, or other panelists. As a host, it may be helpful to inform your participants how you would like to use this feature at the start of the webinar. For example, many webinar hosts use this feature to know if an attendee has a question and would like to be unmuted to speak.
Note: If you're the webinar host, you can also disable the raise hand feature and manage participants that raise their hand.
Replying and Managing Chat Messages
Use Zoom Chat to message with others outside of a Zoom meeting. You can edit or delete messages, files, or images that you have already sent. The search results that recipients see in the chat will reflect the content of your edited message. Although the recipient does not receive a notification, deleted chat content and files are no longer accessible within Zoom. All platforms support the typing indicator, which notifies you when the other party is typing a message.
